Shanghai, China— Shanghai MicroPort EP MedTech Co., Ltd. (“MicroPort EP”)  has recently received marketing approval from China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for its self-developed OptimAblate™ Tubing Set.

Atrial fibrillation is a common type of cardiac arrhythmia that currently affects nearly 10 million people in China and may cause complications such as stroke and heart failure. The main treatment options for atrial fibrillation include medication therapy and non-medication therapy. As atrial fibrillation cannot be cured by medication and is prone to recurrence, radiofrequency ablation (RFA) procedure has become an effective means of treating atrial fibrillation due to its minor trauma and rapid recovery. To achieve satisfactory ablation results while minimizing or avoiding complications, cold saline is usually used to irrigate the RF ablation catheter during RF ablation procedures. The approved OptimAblate™ Tubing set is a disposable infusion tube that can be used in conjunction with MicroPort EP’s self-developed OptimAblate™ Irrigation Pump to accurately infuse saline and other solutions at controlled flow rates into the distal end of irrigation catheters during an RF ablation procedure, to cool local tissues, minimize the risk of thrombosis, and reduce complications.

Previously, MicroPort EP’s OptimAblate™ Irrigation Pump and several saline irrigation catheters have already received marketing approval. The approval of the OptimAblate™ Tubing Set further adds to MicroPort® EP’s diverse product line. In the future, MicroPort EP will continue to invest in research and development as well as product innovation to create a product line encompassing active and passive solutions offered by both devices and equipment, with the aim of providing patients and doctors in the field of interventional therapy with accessible and state-of-the-art total medical solutions centering around precision navigation technologies.
